Tour the Sourlands region in beautiful rural central NJ. There will be a variety of flat routes and hilly longer routes. Our flat routes are 5 and 15-miles, slightly hilly 30-miles, moderately hilly 50-miles, and hilly 70-miles. The 70-mile route will include three climbing Strava segments. Families are welcome and can play on open fields, picnic and bike the roads within and around Skillman Park which is less than one-quarter mile from the start. Registration by May 9 is highly recommended and guarantees a quicker check-in, biking prize, and lower registration fee. Princeton Freewheelers (PFW) is partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County on the PFW Bicycling Event. Riders can opt to donate to other 501 c(3) charities during the registration process.

Cost is $45 until May 9, $55 thereafter.

Event Details and Schedule


The Event starts at 7 AM and ends at 4:30 PM at OKCC.  No services or personnel will be available after 4:30 PM.  Lunch will be served from 11 AM to 3 PM at OKCC. Parking is at the Montgomery High School (MHS) lot just over 100 yards southeast of OKCC.


RIDERS MUST WEAR HELMETS AND STAY TO THE RIGHT ON ALL ROADS!

8 AM-11 AM     5, 15 AND 30 MILES

 

In order to meet your planned departure time, please arrive 20 minutes earlier.

FAMILIES ARE INVITED TO RIDE BIKE PATHS OR ON THE BIKE SHOULDER ALONG THE ROADS WITHIN SKILLMAN PARK. THERE ARE ALSO LARGE OPEN FIELDS FOR KIDS TO PLAY AND RUN.

THE LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS TO THE PARKING AREA AT MONTGOMERY HIGH SCHOOL AND OKCC ARE AVAILABLE AT THE LINK BELOW. OKCC IS 100 YARDS FROM THE MHS PARKING LOT WHEN EXITING ON TO SKILLMAN ROAD, WHILE THE WEST ENTRANCE TO SKILLMAN PARK FOR FAMILIES IS LESS THAN 100 YARDS FROM ROUTE 601 WHEN EXITING FROM THE SOUTHERN EXIT OF THE MHS PARKING LOT.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  1. Am I required to wear a helmet during the ride?

  2. Yes. All riders must wear a helmet while cycling.
  3.  
  4. Does the Event take place if it rains?

  5. Yes. The Event is held rain or shine.  If you choose not to ride due to the weather, you can still check in at the registration desk to get your bike gift (Prior registration is necessary.) and enjoy the post ride lunch and music.

  7. What time do I need to be there?
  8.  
  9. 20 minutes before the indicated start time for your route. Plan to arrive on-site in time to register and get ready to leave within the start times as listed above.

  11. Will bike mechanics be available during the ride?
  12.  
  13. Sponsoring bike shops will provide mechanical assistance at the start of the ride at OKCC. The 30-mile loop returns to rest stop at OKCC and can get help. Additionally, there will be a rest stop for the 50 and 70-mile rides that will have a bike mechanic available.  There will be a couple SAG (Safety and Gear) vehicles that will have basic supplies such as tubes and pumps and can help with some repairs. Bike mechanics are not able to provide full services during the ride, so be sure to get a tune up and have your bike ready before the event.

  15. Will there be rest stops with food, water and restrooms?

  17. Yes! Rest stops will be stocked with snacks and drinks, and bathroom facilities will be available. The rest stops will have fluids and granola bars, etc. plus Port-A-Johns. Rest stops are open on the day of the Event. The rest stops close at 330 PM, one hour before Event closes..

  19. What meals are provided?

  21. Cyclists and volunteers will be provided with tasty lunch that will include pizza, drink and dessert. As indicated before lunch is served from 11 AM to 3 PM.

  23. What if I cannot finish the ride?

  24. If for any reason you are unable to continue during the ride, please call the emergency number at the bottom and a SAG vehicle will bring you and your bicycle to OKCC.

  26. If I can't make the ride, will you mail me my bike gift?

  27. No, but you can pick up your item on Event day even if you choose not to ride.

  29. Can someone hold my bike gift until the end when I can pick it up?

  30. Unfortunately, we have no place to keep your bike gift.  You should place it in your car if you do not want to ride with it.

  32. Do you take credit cards if Event day registration is still available?

  33. The PFW can only take cash or checks.

  35. What happens if I pre-registered, but my name was not on the list?

  36. You will be required to pay on Event day. The club will issue you a refund if your registration on bikereg.com is found or was received in the mail.
