A casual, fun Sunday afternoon roll down the towpath to reclaim our trails from the weekend tourist crowds, complete with historical stops, a dip into PA, and the coolest rest stop around.

Join me this Sunday afternoon as we launch our noble campaign: Taking Back the Towpath! Now that the weekend tourist crowds have packed up and headed home, the path is ours once again.

This is a D+ ride (approx. 9.0–10.9 mph), and we will proudly ride as fast as the slowest rider. Zero pressure, 100% fun!

Ride Overview & Route Highlights
Distance: Approximately 22 miles, but we offer total flexibility! We adapt to rider abilities and can easily stretch the route out or trim it down based on how everyone is feeling.

Surface: Crushed stone/gravel. A gravel or hybrid bike is ideal, but standard road bikes with 28mm tires will handle the path just fine.

Historic & Refreshing Stops:
Washington Crossing Historic Park: We’ll pause to gaze back across the Delaware River at New Jersey—just like George Washington did nearly 250 years ago! (Granted, our view will be a bit different: Washington was there in the middle of a freezing night, and there wasn't a bridge in the foreground.)

The Scudder Falls Crossing & PA Side: We’ll cross into Pennsylvania via the Scudder Falls Multi-Use Path. Once on the PA side, you’ll get to experience what might be the cleanest and coolest (air-conditioned!) bathroom in all of Bike-dom.

Thompson-Neely House: We’ll stop by this historic 18th-century farmstead, which served as a crucial field hospital for sick and injured Continental soldiers during the winter encampment of 1776 before the famous river crossing.

Graves of Washington’s Soldiers: A quiet moment of reflection at the resting place of the Continental Army soldiers who succumbed to illness and severe winter conditions leading up to the Battle of Trenton. Their sacrifices helped turn the tide of the American Revolution.
